Wound Care & Skin Restoration

When the skin is broken, irritated, inflamed, or recovering, whether from cuts, scrapes, burns, rashes, surgical incisions, scars, or tissue slow to mend,  it calls for protection, nourishment, and patience. Wound care is not only about closing what is visible, but about supporting the layers beneath as they regenerate and strengthen.

Herbs commonly used for wound care and skin restoration include:

  • Calendula — encourages tissue repair, reduces inflammation, and supports gentle regeneration

  • Comfrey — traditionally known for assisting the body in rebuilding skin and connective tissue (external use)

  • Plantain — draws out impurities, soothes irritation, and supports healing of minor wounds

  • Lavender — calms inflammation, supports antimicrobial protection, and soothes the nervous system

  • Goldenrod — aids tissue repair while reducing swelling and inflammation

  • Yarrow — supports minor bleeding control and assists in skin repair

  • Chickweed — cools irritation, itching, and inflamed skin

These herbs work together to protect compromised skin, guard against infection, and encourage the body’s natural rhythm of repair — gently, patiently, and without force.

Nerve Pain & Sensitivity

When nerves are irritated, compressed, inflamed, or overwhelmed, they require calming, insulation, and gentle restoration. These herbs are long trusted for their ability to soothe overactive signals, nourish nerve tissue, and encourage healthy nerve communication:

Herbs commonly used for nerve support include:

  • Skullcap — calms frazzled nerves, eases nerve pain, and restores balance to an overworked nervous system

  • Milky Oat Tops (Oat Straw) — deeply nourishing to nerve tissue, rebuilding strength after stress or depletion

  • St. John’s Wort — traditionally used for nerve injury, tingling, and shooting pains (external use preferred)

  • Lemon Balm — soothes nerve tension while calming the mind and body together

  • Passionflower — relaxes nerve-driven discomfort and quiets overactive signaling

  • Lavender — gently sedating, easing nerve sensitivity while promoting relaxation

  • Chamomile — softens inflammation and brings comfort to both nerves and spirit

These herbs work not by numbing sensation, but by helping the nervous system feel safe enough to settle, repair, and restore.

Joint Pain & Inflammation

Joint and inflammatory discomfort arises when tissues are strained, circulation slows, or inflammation lingers. These herbs support movement, warmth, circulation, and the body’s natural anti-inflammatory response:

Herbs commonly used for joint and inflammation support include:

  • Turmeric — a powerful anti-inflammatory ally that supports joint comfort and mobility

  • Ginger — warming and circulatory, easing stiffness and improving movement

  • Willow Bark — traditionally used for pain relief and inflammation

  • Devil’s Claw — supports joint flexibility and reduces chronic discomfort

  • Hawthorn — improves circulation, nourishing joints through better blood flow

  • Goldenrod — eases inflammation and supports tissue repair

  • Arnica — well-known for soothing sore muscles and joints (primarily external use)

  • Cayenne — stimulates circulation and reduces pain signals when used carefully

These herbs invite warmth where there is stiffness, flow where there is stagnation, and patience where healing takes time.
